Bridging visa not granted automatically

Does bridging visa affect your new visa? What is a bridging visa and how can it be granted? Can I apply for a bridging visa C? Depending on the applicant’s circumstances, a bridging visa may be granted automatically or by making a separate application.


In most cases, the bridging visa that is granted automatically has the same work and study rights as the visa the applicant held when they applied for a new visa. You will only move onto the bridging visa once your previous visa expires. The bridging visa is granted automatically so long as your application is vali it does have work rights. Work rights bridging visas are possible through application, as under a number of conditions, work rights are not automatically granted. The status is required when applications are made for visas from within Australia. When you lodge a partner visa application you will be granted a bridging visa with no work conditions.
